Kollam


Also known as Quilon or Desinganadu, Kollam is an old sea port town situated between Arabian Coast and the Ashtamudi Lake in Kerala. This place has been a flourishing trading port for centuries and it is the centre of cashew processing and the hub of fisheries industry. The surrounding region of the place produces pepper, coir, cashews and other agricultural products. Kollam is one of the oldest ports on the Malabar Coast, which draws the attraction of international countries.

Palaruvi

Palaruvi Waterfall is one of Kerela's most beautiful waterfalls. The term Palaruvi, literally means "Stream of Milk" in Malayalam and forms a stunning backdrop of milk-white burst of foam, the sound of which resounds through the otherwise peaceful virgin forests of Kollam.

Ashtamudi Lake

Ashtamudi Lake is the most popular place in Kollam, which is surrounded by lush green trees and swaying coconut palms. This 16 km long lake is the second largest lake in Kerala, which has found its way into the sea through the Neendakara estuary.

Jatayupara

Jatayupara is a big rock, situated in a village, near to Kollam District, where Jatayu, the giant vulture from the epic Ramayana, was believed to be fell after being injured by Ravana, who kidnapped Goddess Sita. This beautiful spot is rich in natural beauty

Kollam Beach

Munroe Island

Munroe Island is a hidden pearl in the backwaters which is composed of a cluster of 8 islands. Each of them is separated by s mall water channels and lakes. The place is named in honour of Resident Colonel John Munroe, of the former princely state of Travancore.

Rose Mala

From the firmament it appeared like the unfurling petals of a rose. Amidst the petals, rests a valley in the Shenduruney forest. The little green patches of land, spilled across the river, with its bewitching aura seem to have come down from a fairy tale.
