Bounded by the Nilgiris hills on the east and the Arabian Sea on the west, the district of Malappuram literally the land atop the hills, is remarkable for its unique natural beauty. Perched among the undulating hills and the rivers that flow to reach the coconut-fringed seacoast, the land conceals a unique and eventful history.

Malappuram is a city in the Indian state of Kerala, spread over an area of 58.20 km². The first municipality in the district formed in 1970, Malappuram serves as the administrative headquarters of Malappuram district.

Arimbra Hills

Arimbra Hills, popularly known as the Mini Ooty is a tourist spot in Malappuram. It is an ideal place to feel the clouds and to watch sunset. Located at a height of 1050 ft above sea level, the place attracts large number of visitors for its rolling hills and scenic views.

Nilambur

Nilambur, a place known for teak plantations and tribal settlements. Proximity to the Nilgiri ranges of Western Ghats blesses Nilambur with ample rainfall, waterfalls and lush green rain forests. In addition to teak, there are many mahogany, rosewood and bamboo plantations.

Biyyam Kayal

The region of Malappuram is full of backwater lakes created inland, and one of the most famous ones in the region is the Biyyam Kayal. Located close to Ponnani in the Malappuram district has recently been revamped to the status of an adventure zone of the area.

Kodikuthimala

Kodikuthimala is nicknamed the ‘Ooty of Malappuram’ for good reason. Its lush green valleys, grassy meadows, and tranquil ambience add to the mesmerizing appeal of this hill station situated 2000 ft above sea level. Located 10 kms from Perinthalmanna town, Kodikuthimala is the highest point in the Amminikandan range of hills.

Keralamkundu

Keralamkundu waterfalls is located 1500 ft above sea level in the middle of the silent valley territory. It is located in a small village called Karuvarakkundu in Malappuram district. The place offers a scenic view of the surrounding forests and has a natural pool at the centre from which the water keeps flowing down through the rocks.

Padinjarekkara

The chief allure at the Padinjarekkara Beach is the visual of the confluence of the Bharathapuzha, the Tirur Puzha and the Arabian Sea.
