Bootathan kettu Dam

Bhoothathankettu is among the most picturesque dams in Kerala. It is said the natural fortification of hills and forests that guard the place were built by bhoothams (spirits/ghosts). Located in Ernakulam district, it contains some of the best trekking trails in the State. Trekking through the forests here is an exhilarating experience. A boat ride here is a beautiful way to explore the natural beauty on display. Located nearby is the legendary Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary at Thattekkad.

Mangalavanam Bird Sanctuary

Have you ever explored an extensive variety of life amidst a humming metro! If not, then visit Mangalavanam Bird Sanctuary which is situated in the heart of Kochi, Kerala. Popular as the 'green lung of Kochi', it's very famous for the mangrove vegetation and a home to various species of migratory birds. It's a true mangrove area that has shallow lake surrounded by thick mangrove vegetation.

Folklore Theater and Museum

Placed in the city of Thevara in Kochi, Kerala Folklore Theatre and Museum is built in the Malabar, Cochin and Travancore style of architecture. It welcomes you with a big Kalvilakku (stone lamp). As you step inside the museum and pass the Kalvilakku, you will be greeted by elephant statues on both sides of the steps heading to the massive multi-storey traditional building.

Cherai Beach

Flaunted as one of the excellent beaches in the state, Cherai beach is just at the distance of 30 km from the city of Cochin. Located on the north-end of the Vypeen Island in Kochi, a picturesque Cherai beach is a perfect blend of the sea and the backwaters. Dotted with seashells of several shapes and hues, this beach looks more beautiful with green groves and paddy field.

Hill Palace

Hill Palace, built in 1865, is the largest archaeological museum in Kerala and the administrative center of Cochin. The palace consists of 49 buildings in the local style of 54 acres and includes the Hill Palace Archaeological Museum, Heritage Museum, Deer Park, Prehistoric Park and Children’s Park. There are many medicinal plants around the palace.

Edapally Church

Edappally, about 10 km away from the city, is famous for the St. George Forane Church, one of the oldest Roman Catholic Churches in the State. The church, popularly known as Edappally Pally, was a small structure at the time of its construction in 594 AD.
